Students’ achievement
Students make rapid progress in a large majority of core subjects. Levels of attainment are high most subjects and very strong in mathematics. In science, students' conceptual knowledge and understanding is better developed than their investigative skills. Students apply their learning skills very well in the middle phase. These skills are less well developed at primary.
Personal and social development
Students' behaviour and attitudes towards learning and to others are very positive. They contribute to a happy and purposeful atmosphere in the school. They show very well-developed social responsibility and understanding of environmental issues. Their understanding of wider world cultures is not deep.
Teaching, curriculum and care
Teaching quality ranges from acceptable to very good, with the best lessons featuring efficient time management, active learning, and skillful questioning. However, using assessment data to tailor tasks for different student groups is not a consistently strong feature of provision.
Wellbeing
Leaders successfully promote a family atmosphere across the school. Students report that they feel listened to by school leaders and staff. Parents and students think that helpful support is available. They have some opportunities to influence planning. Interventions enhance students' well-being and there are careful arrangements for staff induction. The curriculum has been successfully adapted to promote wellbeing. Extracurricular activities provide rich opportunities for students to pursue their interests.
Inclusion
Senior leaders are committed to inclusion. The inclusion leader is suitably qualified. The school is better at identifying students’ learning difficulties. Teachers do not always follow individual education plans in lessons. Most parents of students of determination work with the school in partnership. The curriculum has been modified to address the needs of students of determination and the gifted and talented. Students are well-supported in lessons in the inclusion room. Most students of determination make expected progress.
Leadership and management
Leaders successfully maintain most of the positive outcomes identified in the previous report. They have implemented some significant improvements. Development plans are appropriately detailed and based on evidence. Some judgements on the quality of the school's work are inaccurate. Partnerships with parents are a strength. Governors exercise accountability well and support the school effectively. Facilities, resources and staffing are at a good level overall.
